Causes of Acne and Acne Prevention during Your Fitness Workout

Fitness workout is useful for your health – it helps to reduce stress, it is good for your skin. But what to do if you have acne and its condition is worsened by doing exercises? So, first of all you need to check out what clothes you put on when doing your workout, where you do your fitness workout and how hard your training is. Acne, worsened by physical training, often does not depend on the type of the training you do, but on the clothes you were. Improve it, and you may continue to do your workout without any fears of acne occurring. Below there is some information about acne prevention and causes of acne during your fitness workout.

If you are inclined to having chest or back acne, you need to choose your clothes carefully. During physical activity you need to choose clothing, which lets the skin breathe. For this purpose it’s better to wear clothes, made of cotton or lycra-cotton. Rubbing of clothes with the skin gives additional risk for having acne, so choose loose clothing. If your workout is really hard and you sweat a lot, a good choice is to wear clothes, specially designed for physical training.  It is made of a cloth which absorbs moisture from your skin. On the contrary try not to wear synthetic clothes. Such material (for example, lycra or nylon) traps your body warmth and sweat and leaves little opportunity for skin to breathe. In this case there are good settings for the development of the bacteria, which causes acne to occur. Make sure that your helmet or wetsuit fits you the best way possible. If your helmet does not fit your head close, there would be a friction. In this case, it’s a good idea is to put in your helmet a cotton cloth. When your wet suit doesn’t fit you well enough and is loose in some areas, there’s also a friction and a risk of acne occurrence.

For acne prevention it’s better to take a shower soon after the workout. While showering, do not scour your skin – acne would not disappear if you rub your skin harder, it may be quiet the opposite: the inflammation will worsen and even more acne may occur. So gently wash your skin. Using a cleaning cosmetic product is a good idea, especially if it is a medicated agent which helps to remove dead cells from your skin’s surface. Still it may happen that there’s no opportunity to take a shower immediately after physical training. In this case you may dry yourself on medicated tissues. So take a few if you’re going to have a hard workout and know that you won’t be able to take a shower after it.

Do not wear wet clothes! After your workout change your wet clothes immediately. If it’s possible, take a shower, if not – dry on a towel. You should use a clean towel to dry your face, and don’t rub your face. Your facial skin can become irritated by intense rubbing, besides it forces sunscreen and make up to go deeper into your skin pores.

Try to avoid using make up, when working out. If you are having a hard fitness workout, pores are fouled up with cosmetics. Even oil-free and non-pore-plugging products should not be used. After your workout is over, hurry up and wash your face.

While in the sun, always use sunscreen. Staying in the sun is considered to be useful for curing acne, if not too long, of course. But according to research staying in the sun for a long time gives incentives for comedones to appear; besides you can get a sun burn. Some acne medications give an additional risk for your skin to be damaged in the sun, so if you take any, it’s obligatory to use sunscreen. It’s better to choose oil-free one with SPF 15 or more. Make sure that it provides a protection for UVA and UVB rays. Don’t forget to wash it out immediately after taking exercise, because sunscreen, as well as other cosmetics, fouls pores.

So continue doing your fitness workout: it’s really good for your health in general and the health of your skin in particular. Just try to remember and avoid the risk factors, which may worsen your acne condition. In this case, you can enjoy your exercising without any fear of having acne.
